My first client was me!
I remember my healing journey all too well. I remember the day I realized something wasn’t right and multiple areas of my life weren’t working. I felt so drained from feeling like everything was on my shoulders, and nothing in my life reflected what I wanted.
In early adulthood, I was hospitalized a few times and told by a psychiatrist that I would always have these depressive and life-altering symptoms. As a single mother, I refused to repeat generational trauma. I had a determination to find another way – leading to a life of relief rather than putting a Band-aid on my symptoms.
As a social work student, I decided that my first client would be me. Therefore, I started to work on myself by exploring my symptoms and examining what aspects of my life contributed to those symptoms. That work revealed childhood traumas contributing to my decision-making, which did not reflect my wants but rather my fears. It also revealed family allegiances and generational dynamics that hindered my growth.
Most importantly, I realized I had more power and didn’t have to succumb to the symptoms of my painful past and circumstances. I looked symptoms in the face and took them head-on. It was challenging, heartbreaking, and lonely but also LIBERATING. I became a better mother. Eventually, I became a wife and now a mother of four. My family benefits from my healing and generational correction.
Helping others required gaining more experience.
My personal experience has been sharpened and enhanced through my educational and professional endeavors. I graduated from Simmons College with a Master’s in Social Work with an Urban Leadership Certificate, and I have a license to practice therapy in Georgia and Massachusetts.
Over my 14 years as a mental health professional, I have worked with children and families through In-Home Therapy in Boston; have experience with adults from diverse backgrounds and demographics and couples; and specialize in anxiety, depression, PTSD, individual therapy, and couples therapy.
I am the founder and owner of Quintessence of Healing, which signifies my desire to support people by acknowledging that the most essential part of healing starts within them.
Gain peace and love on your healing journey.
Since childhood, I have always wanted to help people have a better life situation. In high school, I would buy food for people who didn’t have lunch money, drive people to work, and educate people on how to get jobs. I loved seeing people’s lives improve one step at a time.
My life experience has fueled my passion to offer this same liberation to others. Everyone deserves to know and feel what healing and managing your symptoms is like. Symptoms do not have to be a life sentence because everyone can relieve pain and suffering one decision at a time.
Life outside of therapy is fulfilling.
While being a healer is one of my favorite aspects of life, my favorite roles are being a wife and mother.
When I am not in session, you will find me at the roller-skating rink alone or with my family, laughing with a loved one, reading a book, furthering my healing, or becoming involved in some outdoor activity.
